BREEDING

Over 500 breeding territories of nearly 60 breeding species.

Largest breeding population of Tree Sparrow in the UK

Up to 25 pairs of breeding Lapwing.

Breeding red data list species: Skylark, Song Thrush, Starling, House Sparrow, Tree Sparrow, Linnet and Reed Bunting

Breeding London Biodiversity Action Plan Species: Skylark, Sand Martin, Song Thrush, Starling, House Sparrow, Tree Sparrow, Linnet and Reed Bunting.

Colony of Sand Martins with 344 hole Sand Martin Bank.

Summer raptors breeding nearby and feeding on farm: Hobby, Sparrowhawk, Kestrel, Buzzard and Peregrine.


WINTERING

Large wintering population of waterfowl: hundreds of Teal also Shoveler, Gadwall, Wigeon, Tufted Duck, Pochard, Little Grebes and hundreds of Coot and also Moorhen.

Winter Owls- Barn Owl, Short-eared Owl, Long-eared Owl, Tawny Owl and Little Owl.

Winter Jack Snipe and Snipe.

Caspian Gull Site. Winter Mediterranean Gulls. Winter ‘white-winged’ Gulls.

National significant populations of Water Pipit, Green Sandpiper, Teal and Shoveler.

Wintering Stonechat and Dartford Warbler.


MIGRATION

MAJOR MIGRATION WATCH POINT

Regular migrant red data list species: Ring Ouzel, Turtle Dove, Spotted Flycatcher, Bullfinch, Black-tailed Godwit and Lesser Spotted Woodpecker.

Raptor migration: Buzzards, Marsh Harriers, Red Kites, Ospreys and sometimes Merlins, Honey Buzzards and Hen Harriers.

Passage waders: Greenshank, Little Stint, Wood Sandpiper, Common Sandpiper, Green Sandpiper, Ruff, Curlew Sandpiper, Black-tailed Godwit, Whimbrel, Curlew, Little Ringed Plover, Dunlin, Ringed Plover and rarely Knot, Sanderling, Avocet, Temminck’s Stint, Pectoral Sandpiper and Spotted Redshank and Turnstone.

Passerine visible migrations: thousands of thrushes, woodpigeons, finches, hirundines and hundreds of pipits, wagtails, waders, ducks and geese.

Inland Seabirds.

VAGRANTS: Britain’s first Glaucous-winged Gull, national rarities include Killdeer, Lesser Yellowlegs, Rustic Bunting, Citrine Wagtail, Little Bittern, Alpine Swift, White Stork, Bee-eater, Ferruginous Duck and Black-winged Stilt.
