London Tree Sparrow Partnership

The Beddington Farm Bird Group in partnership with Viridor, RSPB and MKA Ecology have helped set up the London Tree Sparrow Partnership. The farmlands hold the largest population of Tree Sparrows in the South East if not the country. With regular breeding on the site with 500+ young birds fledging every year it has become a bit of a mystery as to where these birds are going in the Winter time.
For the first time this year the young are being colour ringed in the nest. These birds will now be carry a red ring on the right leg and will soon be dispersing from the Farmlands.

Ok now for your bit...... If you happen to see one of these birds in your garden then we will be very keen to hear from you. We are hoping that over a period of time we can start to build up an understanding of where they are going. That way we can start setting up feeding stations in other areas to try and help the Tree Sparrow.
